The story of Enercon Technologies begins not in a garage, but as a classic family-owned business started by founder Moshe Mohel over 30 years ago. The Israeli company carved out a niche for itself designing and manufacturing highly specialized power conversion and networking solutions for the demanding aerospace and defense industries. For years, it operated as a conservative, profit-driven enterprise. A significant chapter unfolded when Moshe Mohel passed away, and his son, Ron, stepped in as CEO to lead the company. The next major turning point came in 2015, when private equity firm Fortissimo Capital acquired the company. This wasn't just a change in ownership; it marked a shift in strategy. Fortissimo, alongside Enercon's management, set aggressive growth targets. They invested heavily in expanding the R&D teams, boosting their presence in the United States, and initiating a push into the European market. This period of accelerated growth culminated in a landmark event. In late 2024, Bel Fuse Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer, announced an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Enercon in a deal valuing the company at $400 million. Bel acquired an 80% stake for $320 million, with plans to purchase the remaining 20% by early 2027. For Bel, the acquisition was a strategic move to significantly expand its footprint in the high-margin aerospace and defense markets, gaining Enercon's top-tier engineering talent and robust product lines for air, land, and sea applications.
