Encore Tickets, founded in 2000, established itself as a significant independent ticket distributor for London's West End theatre scene. The company was the result of a merger between two established ticket agencies: Edward Lowy's 'Edward Lowy's Top Hat Tickets' and John Wales' 'Leisure Resource Group'. This union created a major force in the theatre ticketing market.
The firm operated as a multi-channel distributor, catering to a wide array of clients. Its customer base included tour operators, media companies, group organizers, online distributors, and retail outlets, alongside direct sales to consumers. Encore's business model revolved around distributing a large volume of tickets for West End theatres, concerts, attractions, and sightseeing tours. The company stated it sold one out of every five tickets for the West End. Revenue was generated through the sale of these tickets across its various distribution channels, leveraging proprietary technology to power hundreds of websites with inventory and content.
A significant development in the company's history occurred in 2019 when it was acquired by TodayTix, an American mobile ticketing platform. Following the acquisition, Encore Tickets continued its operations but was eventually integrated into the broader TodayTix Group. In May 2021, the assets of Encore Tickets Limited were acquired by a new entity within the group, Tix Track Limited, which now trades as TodayTix Group. The original Encore Tickets Limited entity was subsequently placed into administration in 2022. The legacy of Encore now resides within the TodayTix Group, which continues to provide ticketing services for a global audience.
