Established in 1994, Ecoross Srl has carved a significant presence in the Italian environmental services sector. A notable milestone is the construction of a technologically advanced biomethane plant, which began in 2021. This facility is designed to process the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) through anaerobic digestion, converting it into biomethane and quality compost. This project, partly financed by an €11 million loan from Intesa Sanpaolo backed by a SACE green guarantee, positions Ecoross at the forefront of producing advanced biofuels from locally sourced waste, thereby minimizing landfill dependency. The plant, referred to as 'Parco Biometano', also serves an educational purpose with public visiting paths and spaces dedicated to showcasing creative reuse and environmental culture, an initiative that has garnered recognition from publications like Forbes.
