EcoRemix is a South Korean technology venture that manufactures and sells environmentally friendly concrete products by recycling construction waste. Founded in 2024 by CEO Hojae Song, who holds a Ph.D. from Seoul National University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a co-founder with experience in the construction waste treatment industry, the company aims to reduce the environmental and economic burdens of the construction sector.
The company's core business model involves two main technologies. The first is the production of "Eco-Remixed Concrete," which uses recycled aggregates and soil from the construction waste intermediate treatment process. EcoRemix has developed an algorithm, based on the Box-Behnken design, to determine the optimal mixing ratio for these recycled materials, ensuring structural strength while maximizing resource circulation. The second key technology is a deep learning vision-based system called "Eco-ReScreener" that sorts and removes fine impurities from recycled aggregates, addressing the quality inconsistency that has traditionally limited their use.
EcoRemix also employs innovative techniques to enhance its products' performance and sustainability. It uses a microorganism-based soil hardening technology to improve the compressive strength of its concrete, making it comparable to products made from natural aggregates. Furthermore, the company has developed a Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) curing process. This technology captures CO2 and permanently stores it within the concrete by forming calcium carbonate during the curing phase, which also improves the material's strength and durability. The company's products include paving blocks, revetment blocks, and drainage pipes.
In late 2024, EcoRemix secured seed funding from both strategic and financial investors, including Plan H Ventures (the CVC arm of Hoban Construction) and Stonebridge Ventures. This investment is intended to enhance the company's AI services and strengthen partnerships with construction companies.
