Founded in 2003 by Sam Smookler and Saul Umbrasas, E-Band Communications Corp. established itself as a specialized designer and manufacturer of multi-gigabit capacity wireless communication systems. Based in San Diego, California, the company focused on pioneering millimeter-wave (mmWave) radio technology, particularly within the 60, 70, and 80 GHz E-Band spectrum. This strategic focus was driven by the 2003 FCC ruling that opened up these high-frequency bands for commercial use, enabling high-density, fixed wireless services.

The company's business model revolves around the sale of advanced hardware designed for high-throughput, low-latency data transmission. This technology facilitates the creation of point-to-point radio systems that deliver multi-gigabit speeds, with some models like the E-Link 10000 providing up to 9.7 Gbps full-duplex throughput. A key offering is the ultra-low latency product line, including the E-LINK LLEAP, specifically engineered for the financial trading sector where minimal delay is critical. The products operate in the lightly licensed 70/80 GHz frequency bands, which offer significant bandwidth and allow for dense deployment in urban environments without the interference issues common to lower frequency bands. This provides a cost-effective and rapidly deployable alternative to laying fiber optic cable.
