In the early 1960s, the Dor Group was established in Israel, positioning itself as the country's largest marketer of methanol and MTBE. The company's Haifa-based chemical division, Dor Chemicals, was founded in 1972 and carved out a niche in the petrochemical industry. It focused on producing, importing, and transporting chemicals for essential global industries, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and plastics. A core part of the business from early on was a commitment to environmental responsibility, with a strong emphasis on solvent recovery and recycling. This focus wasn't just a talking point; it was integrated into their production processes, allowing them to provide intermediate products while adhering to stringent quality and environmental standards. The company's journey included significant ownership changes. In the early 2000s, the Dankner family, a major shareholder, negotiated the sale of their controlling interest in Dor Chemicals. By 2006, a deal was reached where Inter Holdings acquired a 53.4% stake in the company. These events marked a pivotal chapter, shifting the company's ownership structure while it continued to expand its operations. Today, Dor Group operates across multiple sites in Israel and has diversified into logistics, ecology, and renewable energy. Through its subsidiaries, it markets a wide array of products, from hydrogen and urea solutions to adhesives and fertilizers, all while continuing to champion methanol as a cleaner fuel alternative.
