Domain Surgical, Inc., founded in 2009 by David J. McNally, operated as a medical device company out of Salt Lake City, Utah, focusing on advanced energy-based surgical products. McNally, a seasoned entrepreneur who also founded ZEVEX International, leveraged his experience to develop new technologies in the surgical field. The company successfully secured $42.4 million in funding over five rounds, culminating in a significant $35 million Series B round in March 2014, with OrbiMed as a lead investor.

The company’s core offering was the FMX Ferromagnetic Surgical System, an intelligent platform designed for the precise cutting, coagulation, and sealing of soft tissue. Following a period of development and successful regulatory clearances, Domain Surgical was acquired by OmniGuide, Inc. on August 10, 2016.
