Dighi Port Limited operates an all-weather, deep-draft seaport in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India, situated on the banks of the Rajpuri Creek. The port was originally developed by Balaji Infra Projects Ltd. under a 50-year concession agreement with the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB). After facing financial distress, the company was acquired by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) on February 15, 2021, for ₹705 crore through the corporate insolvency resolution process. This acquisition made Dighi Port the 12th port in APSEZ's network.
The port is being developed to handle multi-cargo, including dry bulk, break-bulk, liquid, container, and project cargo. Its infrastructure features deep-draft berths capable of accommodating large vessels, extensive storage areas, and modern cargo handling equipment. APSEZ has announced a significant investment plan of over ₹10,000 crore to upgrade existing infrastructure and develop new facilities for dry, container, and liquid cargo. This development aims to position Dighi Port as a major gateway to Maharashtra and an alternative to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). The business model is based on providing comprehensive port services, including berthing, stevedoring, storage, and cargo evacuation.
Strategically located 42 nautical miles from Mumbai Port, Dighi serves the industrial hubs in the Mumbai and Pune regions. Its development is expected to stimulate industrial growth in sectors like consumer appliances, metals, energy, and chemicals in Maharashtra. The expansion is also a key component of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and has been identified as a National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ).
