DieselBank is a Brazilian digital bank founded in 2020 that provides financial solutions specifically for truck drivers, a segment it refers to as the "PJ-Trucker". The company was founded by Lucas Rodolfo, a computer science graduate from the University of Campinas (Unicamp). Initially focused on individual truckers, the fintech has since expanded its services to include transport companies and fuel stations.
The core offering for truck drivers is a free digital account accessible via a mobile app, which includes a Visa prepaid international card, bill payments, free bank transfers (TED), and withdrawals. A key feature is a cashback program that offers discounts of up to R$0.10 per liter on diesel fuel purchased at accredited gas stations. To access these benefits, users must have a diesel-powered freight vehicle.
For transport companies, DieselBank offers freight cost anticipation, addressing chronic cash flow problems in an industry where payments are often received 30 days after services are rendered. The fintech is also developing a "bank for gas stations" to provide tailored financial products and services to fuel retailers, aiming to create an integrated financial community around road transport. The business model for these new segments includes a profit-sharing plan, where transport companies and fuel stations would receive half of the profits generated from their operations with DieselBank.
As of early 2023, the company had over 20,000 account holders and had processed over R$300 million in transactions. After a follow-on investment of R$800,000 from UniAngels, the startup was in the process of closing a R$10 million seed round in April 2023. The company was also accelerated by Mercedes-Benz. DieselBank has plans for international expansion into other Latin American markets such as Colombia, Argentina, and Chile, projected for 2025.
