In 2009, a new player emerged in the communication software space: Dialcom Networks. The company developed a carrier-grade, real-time video-conferencing software known as Spontania. This high-definition platform was designed to be compatible with existing communication infrastructures and mobile platforms like Apple and Google's Android. The company, led by President and CEO Enrique Dominguez, offered its video collaboration solution as a software-based cloud service. This approach allowed for scalability to tens of thousands of users and combined the benefits of both video and web conferencing. Dialcom Networks secured backing from several venture capital firms, including Mangrove Capital Partners and Draper Investment Company, to fuel its growth. A significant chapter in the company's journey came in early 2014. ClearOne, a global company specializing in conferencing and collaboration solutions, announced its intention to acquire Dialcom Networks' Spontania business. The all-cash deal was finalized on April 1, 2014, for approximately $5 million. This acquisition allowed ClearOne to integrate Spontania's cloud-based technology, positioning itself as a company that could offer a full suite of on-premise and cloud-based video conferencing solutions.
