Diablo Technologies was a fabless semiconductor company established in 2003 by co-founders Riccardo Badalone, Franco Forlini, and Michael Parziale in Ottawa, Canada. The executive team's background included experience from companies like Nortel Networks, Matrox Graphics, and BroadTel Communications. The company focused on developing high-performance, low-latency memory interface products for the server and storage industries.

The firm's core technology was Memory Channel Storage (MCS), which allowed NAND flash memory to be connected directly to a server's memory channel, plugging into standard DIMM sockets. This architecture was designed to offer significantly lower latency and higher throughput compared to traditional storage interfaces like SATA, SAS, and even PCIe-based SSDs. Diablo's product, the TeraDIMM, could be configured as either a standard block storage device or as system RAM, enabling servers to expand memory capacity from gigabytes to terabytes. The company did not manufacture the final solid-state drives (SSDs) but instead collaborated with partners like SMART Storage Systems (later acquired by SanDisk) and OEMs such as IBM, Supermicro, and Huawei to bring products like ULLtraDIMM and eXFlash DIMMs to market.

Diablo Technologies secured significant funding throughout its history, raising a total of approximately $100 million over several rounds from investors including Battery Ventures, BDC Capital, Celtic House Venture Partners, and Hasso Plattner Ventures. Despite its technology and partnerships, the company faced a prolonged and damaging patent infringement lawsuit from competitor Netlist, which led to a temporary injunction on sales. Although Diablo ultimately won the legal battle, the disruption, combined with a rapidly changing market, proved insurmountable. After the departure of its co-founders in 2017, the company ceased operations and filed for bankruptcy in December 2017, listing roughly $14.5 million in liabilities. In January 2019, Rambus Inc. acquired the assets and patents of Diablo Technologies to expand its portfolio in hybrid DRAM and Flash memory markets.
