DhanLAP, a brand of Ark Neo Financial Services Private Limited, is a Chennai-based fintech company founded in 2020 by C R Chandrasekar. The company operates a digital Loan Platform as a Service (LPaaS) that enables retail investors to secure loans against their financial assets without needing to sell them. This provides investors with instant liquidity to meet short-term financial needs while keeping their long-term investment portfolios intact.
The platform allows users to pledge a variety of assets as collateral, including mutual funds, shares, insurance policies, and gold. DhanLAP has formed partnerships with banks and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) to facilitate these loans. The business model is B2C, serving individual retail investors, and B2B2C, by enabling financial advisors to offer this service to their clients, thereby reducing customer attrition from premature redemptions. The process is entirely digital, from KYC verification and asset selection to e-signing the loan agreement, with the aim of disbursing funds within 15 minutes.
Launched in October 2021, the company's first product was Loan Against Mutual Funds (LAMF). The platform has since expanded to include loans against stocks, insurance, and gold. In January 2025, Prime Securities, an investment banking firm, acquired a 41.68% stake in the company for INR 7 crore, with plans to increase its holding to over 50%. As of July 2022, DhanLAP had raised a total of $1.15 million over two funding rounds, with investors including Quantum Advis and angel investors Ravi Sundararajan and Swaminath Rajagopal.
