Datria Systems, established in 1997, specialized in providing voice-enabled enterprise mobility software. The company focused on developing solutions that allowed mobile workforces in sectors like distribution, logistics, retail, manufacturing, and field service management to interact with enterprise systems in real-time using just their voice. This hands-free, eyes-free approach was designed to improve productivity, process efficiency, and safety for workers performing tasks such as picking, packing, and cycle counting in warehouses.
The core of Datria's offering was its Datria Voice Architecture (DVA), which utilized Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and could be deployed on a variety of mobile devices, including smartphones and industrial handhelds. A key feature of their technology was the use of network-based speech recognition, which allowed for a lower total cost of ownership by leveraging existing network infrastructure and less expensive hardware like IP phones instead of specialized wearable computers. The platform provided a supervisor dashboard accessible via a web connection, enabling managers to remotely monitor system performance, view real-time warehouse activities, and assist workers with training. Datria's solutions were configurable and could integrate with enterprise resource planning systems, with a noted certification for SAP NetWeaver.
James J. Greenwell served as the company's Chairman, President, and CEO from 2002 until 2013. Under his leadership, Datria secured key clients such as Coca-Cola Refreshments, Roche Diagnostics, and Swire. On March 19, 2013, Datria Systems was acquired by Intelligrated, a provider of automated material handling systems, and became part of Intelligrated's software subsidiary, Knighted. The acquisition was a strategic move by Intelligrated to integrate voice technology into its fulfillment solutions for the e-commerce, retail, and logistics industries. Following the acquisition, Greenwell transitioned into a senior management role at Intelligrated.
