CWC Group

CWC Group is a family-owned healthcare company that provides residential nursing, domiciliary, and disability care services across seven locations in Northern Ireland. It was founded in 1983, not 1985 as stated in some sources, by sisters-in-law Monica Byrne and Imelda McGrady in County Down. The company is now operated by the second generation of the family, with Monica's daughters, Aisling Byrne, serving as Chief Executive Officer, and Shauna Byrne as Chief Learning and Development Officer.

The company's business model is focused on providing person-centered care in a homely environment, addressing a shortage of high-quality specialist care facilities in the region. Its services cater to a range of needs, including dementia care, learning disabilities, brain injury recovery, and support for the terminally ill. CWC Group operates several facilities, including Corriewood Private Clinic, The Gate Lodge, and Wood Lodge, offering therapies like SONAS for dementia and other relaxation and gardening activities.

In August 2025, CWC Group received a multi-million-pound investment from BGF, a growth capital investor. This was BGF's first investment from its £300 million commitment to support female-powered businesses. The capital is intended to fund the acquisition of new sites and enhance its specialist care services, particularly for adults with complex needs, in partnership with Northern Ireland's health trusts. As part of this expansion, Paula Kane, founder of Ashdale Care Ireland, was appointed non-executive chair, and David Jones, a former Deloitte healthcare partner, joined as a non-executive director to guide the company's scaling efforts.
