CUREosity GmbH is a German medical technology company, established in Düsseldorf in 2018, that operates on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business model. The company was founded by Thomas Saur, Stefan Arand, and Marco Faulhammer, who were inspired by profound personal experiences with the limitations of traditional rehabilitation for their own family members. Saur’s search for better therapy for his son who suffered paraplegia, combined with Arand’s experiences with his son who has Down syndrome and as a stroke survivor himself, and Faulhammer's partner's multiple sclerosis, fueled their mission. Their collective professional background in 3D visualization and IT application concepts provided the technical foundation to develop a new therapeutic approach.

The company's core offering is CUREO, a CE-certified virtual reality (VR) therapy system designed for clinics, rehabilitation centers, and medical practices. CUREO addresses the rehabilitation needs of patients with sensorimotor, cognitive, and perceptual impairments resulting from conditions like stroke, paraplegia, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's or multiple sclerosis. The platform leverages gamification within immersive virtual worlds to enhance patient motivation and adherence to therapy. CUREO is designed for flexibility, allowing for individual, group, or parallel therapy sessions, which can help alleviate personnel shortages in clinical settings. A single therapist can manage individualized sessions for up to six patients simultaneously, with progress automatically documented to streamline workflows. Key features include controller-free finger tracking for fine motor skill training, mirror therapy functions, sonification (the sounding of movements), and modules for relaxation and cognitive training. The system is used in nearly 200 therapeutic facilities across 24 countries. To fund its growth and commercial expansion, CUREosity has successfully raised capital, including a €3.8 million financing round in June 2024, bringing its total funding to over €8.4 million.
