Initially a comic content provider, Cross Star created nearly 20 manga series for major online platforms, accumulating over 10 billion clicks. The studio later transitioned into the gaming industry, contributing to the world-building, plot, and settings for several games. In 2018, the company independently developed and successfully released its first game, "Helix Waltz". This was followed by a series of other titles, including "Half A Cup of Retro Style," "Shadow Game: Star City Action," and "Helix Waltz 2 - Rose War," a dress-up adventure mobile game for a female audience. Their upcoming project, "Chang'an Million Dollar," a business simulation game set in the Tang Dynasty, will be published by Bilibili.

The company's business model revolves around developing and distributing its own games, as well as providing creative services like world-building and narrative design for other game developers. Cross Star has attracted significant investment, completing a Series A funding round in 2018 with backing from Tencent and another major game company. It has since secured further investments from companies like Kuaishou, Dreamscape, and most recently, a B+ round from Meitu, which acquired an 18% stake in March 2024.
