Crea Assicurazioni is an insurtech company providing a digital, cloud-based platform for the distribution of insurance products. The company's business model is B2B2C, targeting professional intermediaries like brokers, agents, banks, and other businesses, enabling them to integrate and offer digital insurance policies. Crea's core technology simplifies and automates the entire distribution process, from customising policies to issuing a certificate, significantly reducing time and costs for its partners.
Founded in 2018 by Feliciano Lombardi and Mike Galasso, the company established operations in both Milan and London. By January 2021, Crea had already issued over 45,000 policies and intermediated more than €20 million in premiums. That same month, the company secured a significant investment round of over €2 million, led by Step S.p.A. with participation from CDP Venture Capital SGR, Digital Magics, and other existing investors. This funding was aimed at accelerating growth, particularly within the bancassurance segment. In February 2022, the company changed its legal status from an S.r.l. to an S.p.A. (Società per Azioni), reflecting its growth and commitment to transparency.
In November 2023, Crea Assicurazioni was fully acquired by +Simple, a French digital insurance brokerage. This acquisition was a strategic move for +Simple to expand its footprint in the Italian market and for Crea to enhance its product offerings, especially for small to medium-sized enterprises and freelance professionals. Co-founders Feliciano Lombardi and Mike Galasso remained with +Simple to spearhead development in Italy and internationally following the acquisition.
