In 1959, the Zani brothers, led by Heinz Zani, founded Condecta in Winterthur, Switzerland, with just four employees. They started by selling construction materials like concrete spacers and formwork panels to serve the booming post-war construction industry in the country. The company quickly expanded its offerings, adding construction site toilets and huts in 1964 and construction cranes by 1968. A key move came in 1980 when Condecta began producing its own quick-assembly cranes in Schio, Italy, which became a signature product. A period of significant ownership changes began in 2016 when Condecta was part of Looser Holding, which was acquired by Arbonia Group. Just a year later, in 2017, the private equity firm Paragon Partners acquired Condecta from Arbonia, seeing potential in its market-leading position. Under Paragon's ownership, Condecta focused strategically on its modular space systems, a segment providing everything from temporary offices and schools to event infrastructure. This strategy paid off, and by August 2024, a new chapter began when Swiss Life Asset Managers acquired the company. The acquisition aims to further expand Condecta's geographical footprint and product range, building on its foundation as a key provider of mobile infrastructure in Switzerland.
