Cnverg

Founded in November 2013 by John Kirk and Rick Prieto, Cnverg developed a web-based application designed for visual data collaboration. Initially known as MUNI-Tech, the company aimed to provide a shared interactive workspace where distributed product development teams could create, plan, and manage projects in real-time from any modern browser. The platform functioned as a real-time whiteboard that integrated with developer tools like GitHub, enabling teams to visually organize and sort issues, plan sprints, and track progress without needing to install any software.

Cnverg's core product was a visual planning and strategy tool that allowed users to work as if they were in the same room. It offered features like embedding other collaborative spaces, adding notes, and using customizable templates for different workflows, such as Kanban boards. This flexibility was designed to adapt to a team's existing processes rather than forcing them to change how they work. The primary clients were agile and distributed software development teams who could use the tool to enhance their planning sessions.

The company participated in the DreamIt accelerator program and received $25K in funding in December 2014. Originally based in Wilmington, DE, and Philadelphia, PA, the founders relocated the company's leadership to Austin, Texas, in August 2015 to be closer to a growing customer base. According to PitchBook, the company ceased operations as of March 2019.
