CNet Svenska AB is a research and development-intensive software house focused on the Internet of Things (IoT). The company originates from Swedish IT research, founded by a research group from the Swedish Institute for Systems Development (SISU). CNet's business model centers on participating in international R&D projects and then commercializing the resulting technologies through spin-off companies.
The firm has launched several ventures in distinct markets. Checkwatt is an energy service for homeowners and businesses to manage solar energy production and consumption; it has since become Sweden's largest independent aggregator of flexible energy resources, reporting revenues of 277 million SEK in 2024. IoTBridge provides a digital twin and monitoring platform for critical infrastructure, such as bridges, using NB-IoT sensors and cloud data processing. This spin-off was commercialized in 2022 after a collaborative project with KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Swedish transport authorities. A third spin-off, CheckHealth, was created in 2019 to market a MedTech platform for remote patient monitoring and self-management of chronic diseases.
CNet actively engages in research across sectors like Smart Cities, Smart Agriculture, and Smart Manufacturing. The company's technical work includes Mobile IoT Gateways, Digital Twins, Federated Cloud Services, and Blockchain applications for supply chain management. CNet has received recognition for its work, including the Open Stockholm Innovation Award in 2017 and a nomination for the EU Innovation Radar Prize in 2018.
