Clubber

Clubber, founded in Dublin in 2020 by CEO Jimmy Doyle, is a live sports streaming platform focused on under-commercialised sports rights, particularly in Gaelic Games. Doyle, who has a background in technology and media from his time at Microsoft, identified an opportunity to apply a scalable, tech-driven model to sports tiers that are rich in community engagement but historically overlooked by traditional broadcasters. His experience as a hurler provided personal insight into the passionate fanbases at the club level.

The company operates a direct-to-consumer business model, generating revenue primarily through pay-per-view (PPV) options for single games, weekly access passes, and annual subscriptions. This model allows Clubber to monetize rights for competitions that are typically unavailable to a wider audience. The platform has secured exclusive, multi-year broadcast rights with numerous GAA County Boards in Ireland, streaming over 1,500 matches in a single year, including club and age-grade competitions. It uses cloud-based technology, which negates the need for expensive traditional broadcast infrastructure and enables high-quality production from any location.

Clubber has achieved significant milestones, securing early-stage VC funding from Enterprise Ireland in April 2023 and a major partnership with Aviva Insurance Ireland in August 2025. In August 2025, Mediahuis Ireland acquired a significant minority stake in the company to accelerate its expansion, with Mediahuis COO Ian Keogh joining the board. The company is now expanding its operations into the UK and other international markets, aiming to replicate its successful playbook across a broader range of sports beyond GAA.
