The Club del Sole story begins in 1974, rooted in an insight from the Giondi family. They saw the untapped potential in campsites, acquiring their first properties and starting a journey to redefine outdoor holidays. From simple plots for tents, they began developing facilities for caravans, eventually adding bungalows and mobile homes to create full-fledged holiday villages. Spearheaded by founder Giancarlo Giondi and later his son, president Riccardo Giondi, the company grew by acquiring new campsites across Italy, establishing a strong presence in regions like Tuscany and Romagna. A pivotal moment arrived in 2018 when private equity fund NB Aurora acquired a minority stake, providing capital that fueled a significant expansion. This partnership accelerated growth, allowing Club del Sole to acquire 12 new camping villages and solidify its market leadership. In early 2024, another major event unfolded as The Equity Club (TEC), a club deal initiative by Mediobanca, acquired a significant minority stake in a deal valued at approximately €109 million. This transaction included a substantial capital increase to fund further acquisitions and development, with NB Aurora reinvesting and the Giondi family retaining majority control to continue leading the industrial project.
