CheckEye is a Ukrainian health-tech company founded in 2022 that provides an AI-driven platform for the early detection of chronic diseases through retinal image analysis. The primary focus has been on detecting diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of blindness in working-age adults. The system has demonstrated high accuracy in clinical trials, with 95% sensitivity and 90% specificity. The company's roadmap includes expanding the diagnostic capabilities to over 40 diseases, such as glaucoma, arterial hypertension, and neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

CheckEye's business model involves a monthly subscription fee for each screening point, which provides access to the platform, support, and updates. The company partners with medical institutions, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies. Despite being launched just before the full-scale war in Ukraine, the company has implemented pilot programs across the country in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Ukrainian Diabetes Federation, performing thousands of free screenings for displaced people. CheckEye has secured funding from various sources, including angel investors, Google for Startups, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund (WNISEF). The company is expanding internationally, with pilot projects in Germany and strategic investments from Austria's largest pharmacy chain, Marien Apotheke, to support its European expansion.
