Founded in Australia in 2013 by Glen Holding, the company emerged from a lift-out of an investment manager to provide a comprehensive suite of services. Glen Holding, the Managing Director, has extensive experience in investment management with firms like Credit Suisse and Pinnacle prior to co-founding Channel Capital.

The company operates as a multi-boutique fund management business, providing infrastructure and support to a portfolio of investment management firms. Its core service, Channel Investment Management Services (CIM), is an all-in-one solution that includes incubation, operations, compliance, risk management, responsible entity and trustee services, distribution, and marketing. This model allows Channel Capital to support various partners, from local boutique firms to large global asset managers, by enabling them to focus on managing investments while Channel handles the operational and distribution aspects. In November 2020, Channel Capital underwent a management buyout supported by Kudu Investment Management, which acquired a passive minority stake. This strategic partnership was aimed at financing the buyout and providing additional capital for growth opportunities within and outside of Australia. The company has offices in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne, and has expanded internationally. As of March 2021, it partnered with Des Mac Intyre, former CEO of Mellon Investments Corporation, to launch Eolas Capital, an investment management incubator in New York, marking its first subsidiary in the United States.
