Causecast operated as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company providing a technology platform for corporate philanthropy and employee engagement. Founded in 2007 by technology entrepreneur Ryan Scott, the Los Angeles-based firm aimed to modernize corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. Scott, a co-founder of the email marketing firm NetCreations, identified a gap in the market for effective technology to manage corporate giving and volunteering after finding existing tools to be archaic. This observation, coupled with a desire to use his software development skills for social good, led to the creation of Causecast.
The company's core offering was the Community Impact Platform, an online system designed for businesses to manage, track, and scale their community investment initiatives. This platform provided a centralized solution for employee volunteering, donations, gift matching, and rewards programs. Key features included real-time tracking of giving and volunteering efforts, tools to manage cause campaigns like disaster relief, and social sharing capabilities to amplify employee activities. In 2017, Causecast introduced an artificial intelligence and predictive analytics tool to help program managers make data-driven decisions and improve employee participation. The business model was centered on providing this technology to corporate clients, helping them streamline administrative tasks and increase employee engagement in their CSR programs.
A significant milestone in the company's history was its acquisition by America's Charities in July 2019. This was an asset purchase, meaning America's Charities acquired Causecast's technology, intellectual property, and client contracts, but did not bring on the employees. Prior to the acquisition, the two organizations had a partnership dating back to 2015, with America's Charities using the Causecast platform to service its own clients. Following the acquisition, the platform was integrated into America's Charities' offerings and renamed the "All-in-One Giving solution". Founder Ryan Scott assisted with the transition before leaving the firm.
