Camarilla
Private social platform for photo and video sharing.
A private social networking platform designed for sharing photos and videos within a small, exclusive circle. The application allowed users to invite a maximum of 15 friends to create an intimate network for sharing posts and images, focusing on user privacy.
The Dutch startup was founded by Constance Scholten. In September 2016, the company secured $3.37 million in an Angel funding round. By June 2017, the platform had grown to 30,000 daily active users across 163 countries. That same month, Camarilla merged with Appical, a company specializing in employee onboarding software, to pivot towards the corporate market. The goal was to integrate Camarilla's chat functionality into Appical's platform to help companies build stronger relationships with their employees. Following the merger, the Camarilla team relocated to Appical's Amsterdam office. PitchBook data indicates the company was out of business as of March 2018.
