CallFixie was an on-demand home services marketplace founded in 2015 by Gabriel Fong and Jaspal Sarai, who also founded the Hong Kong-based venture group Jaarvis. The company operated as a platform to connect customers with tradesmen for services like plumbing and electrical repairs. Although based in Gurugram, India, CallFixie also had a cross-border model, catering to Hong Kong and Australia. Its business model centered on taking a commission from the tradesmen for each completed job, which was around ten percent in Australia. The company targeted both individual homeowners and corporate clients, with services for offices and restaurants accounting for a significant portion of its revenue.
The platform was accessible via its website and mobile apps for Android and iOS. Customers could specify the repair needed, add a description and photos, and then receive quotes from interested service providers. Tradesmen who joined the platform were rated by customers after each job, and the company conducted background checks to ensure reliability. In 2016, the company reported having over 8,000 service providers on its platform. CallFixie was part of the Jaarvis accelerator program and secured a US$1 million seed round in 2015, followed by another funding round in 2016. Despite initial traction and expansion, the company is now considered deadpooled, having ceased operations around November 2020.
