Bushel is an independently-owned software company providing a digital platform for the agricultural supply chain. Founded in 2011 by Jake Joraanstad and Ryan Raguse, the Fargo, North Dakota-based company develops digital tools for farmers, grain buyers, ag retailers, and food companies. The platform launched in 2017. Raguse, a sixth-generation farmer, co-founded a mobile app development company while studying accounting at North Dakota State University, which laid the groundwork for Bushel's focus on solving agricultural inefficiencies.
The company's subscription-based software digitizes and accelerates the flow of information, transactions, and payments. The farm management software, Bushel Farm (formerly FarmLogs), integrates with platforms like John Deere Operations Center and Climate FieldView. It automates the entry of grain contracts and combines machine data with input costs to calculate cost of production and track profitability at the field level. Bushel has raised a total of $102 million over several funding rounds, with significant investments from firms like The Banc Funds Company, Continental Grain Company, Cargill, and The Scoular Company.
