Brush Monster is the brand name for an augmented reality (AR) smart toothbrush designed for children, developed by the South Korean digital dental care startup, Kitten Planet. The company was founded in 2017 by Choi Jong Ho and is a spin-off from Samsung Electronics. The Brush Monster system consists of a smart toothbrush and a corresponding mobile application. The toothbrush is equipped with 3D motion sensors that track the user's brushing movements in real-time across 16 different sections of the mouth. This data is sent via Bluetooth to the Brush Monster app, which is compatible with Android and iOS devices. The app uses the phone's front-facing camera to superimpose AR graphics, such as fun digital stickers and effects, onto the child's face. An AR guide instructs the child on the proper brushing technique and duration for each area. As the child brushes correctly, they earn rewards like character stickers within the app, gamifying the experience to encourage consistent and thorough cleaning.
