In February 1982, Broadcast Microwave Services (BMS) was founded to create wireless microwave equipment for video and data transmission. For over three decades, the company honed its craft, engineering and manufacturing mobile microwave communication systems, including transmitters, receivers, and antennas. This technology enabled real-time video and data to be sent from aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and ground platforms. This specialization earned BMS the reputation of being 'The Downlink Experts'. They became a key supplier for a diverse group of clients, from government surveillance and law enforcement to broadcast markets. Their systems were built for reliability in challenging environments, a requirement for mission-critical applications used by the military and first responders. A significant chapter in the company's journey began when it was a subsidiary of Cohu, Inc. Later, it was acquired by the private investment firm StoneCalibre. This represented a defining moment and a commitment to grow its customer relationships. More recently, in September 2023, Vislink Technologies, a leader in live video capture and delivery, acquired the majority of BMS's assets. This move was aimed at consolidating the market for Airborne Video Downlink Systems and expanding Vislink's reach into the public safety and defense sectors.
