Brio provides a SaaS platform designed to streamline operations for alternative asset managers. The company originated in 2016 as an internal tool within the Canadian venture capital firm Brightspark Ventures to manage its growing number of limited partners (LPs) and special purpose vehicles (SPVs). After witnessing its efficiency and recognizing a broader market need, Brightspark spun out Brio as an independent entity in January 2025.
The spin-off was led by former Brightspark executives Audrey Ostiguy (CEO), Ab Fadel (CTO), and Emilie Parker Jones (CPO/CMO), who were instrumental in developing the platform. Ostiguy, with a background in financial services and investment, served as Brightspark's chief compliance officer and head of operations. Brio's platform serves as a centralized system for the entire LP management lifecycle. It automates and simplifies processes such as deal marketing, investor onboarding, compliance, subscriptions, capital calls, distributions, and reporting. The software is designed for venture capital, private equity, real estate, and multi-family office clients, particularly targeting firms with over $100 million in assets under administration or those managing at least 40 LPs, the point at which manual spreadsheet management becomes unwieldy. The business model is subscription-based, with annual fees ranging from $25,000 to $100,000, complemented by an initial onboarding cost. This structure offers a comprehensive solution that provides a single source of truth for fund data, enhances collaboration across teams, and delivers a modern, white-labeled portal for investors.
