Brewtope
Craft beer industry enablement and distribution platform.
Brewtope Inc. is a company dedicated to fostering the craft beer industry in Japan. Originally founded as meuron Inc., the company rebranded in October 2024 to Brewtope, a name combining "Brew" and "Biotope," to reflect its mission of creating a thriving ecosystem for brewers, sellers, and drinkers. The company was founded by Toshiaki Kanazawa. Brewtope aims to address distribution challenges and support the growth of the craft beer market, which has seen the number of breweries in Japan quadruple to around 800 in the last decade.
The company operates a multi-faceted business model centered on enabling the craft beer industry. A core service is "Otomoni," a subscription box that provides customers with a curated selection of craft beers, promoting discovery and appreciation. Building on the data and logistics from its consumer service, Brewtope launched B2B offerings. These include "Otomoni Wholesale," an e-commerce platform for restaurants and retailers, and "Otomoni for Corporate," which provides craft beer for events, corporate gifts, and the creation of original branded beers. This strategic expansion into B2B services aims to create a comprehensive industrial platform, solving supply chain issues for small-scale breweries and allowing them to reach the market more effectively.
In April 2025, Brewtope announced it had raised approximately 200 million JPY in a funding round led by IMSF (INSPiRE Mutualistic Symbiosis Fund). This capital is intended to strengthen its distribution business and enhance its supply chain support systems, with the long-term goal of becoming an indispensable infrastructure for the Japanese craft beer market and exploring overseas expansion.
