Bodygram provides an artificial intelligence-powered technology platform that performs accurate body measurements using only a smartphone camera. Founded by serial entrepreneur Jin Koh in 2019, the company originated from a previous B2C e-commerce venture for custom-made shirts. Koh, who studied at the University of California, Berkeley, identified the need for better sizing technology after experiencing high return rates in his apparel business. This led to the spin-off of the body data technology into what is now Bodygram. Prior to this, Koh founded several other tech companies, including ShareSpace, a web-based collaboration software company, and Startforce, a cloud desktop provider.
The company’s core technology enables end-users to obtain precise body measurements, posture analysis, and body composition estimates by taking just two photos with their smartphone, even while fully clothed. The process, which takes less than a minute, generates a 3D avatar and provides up to 35 different body measurements compliant with ISO 8559 standards. To achieve this, Bodygram's AI is trained on a vast dataset of real body data, including 3D scans and bioelectrical impedance analysis, which is augmented with synthetically generated data to account for variations in clothing, lighting, and backgrounds.
Bodygram operates on a B2B model, offering its platform to businesses across various industries through APIs and no-code solutions. Clients in the apparel and uniform sectors, such as Adastria and Bonmax, use the technology to offer personalized size recommendations, streamline uniform sizing, and reduce costs. In the health and wellness space, companies like Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance and Elfie integrate Bodygram to provide users with personalized health insights. Other applications include customized bedding with clients like Airweave. The company has raised $17M in funding from investors including 500 Global, StartX (US), and Inspire Corp.
