Bilim Media Group (BMG) is an educational technology company founded in 2011 by Rauan Kenzhekhanuly, developing a digital education ecosystem in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The company began with the creation of the WikiBilim public fund, which led to the "Kazakh Wikipedia" project and won the "Wikimedia of the Year" award in 2011. The initial team was largely composed of graduates from the "Bolashaq" international scholarship program.
BMG develops and localizes educational content and technologies, serving government organizations, IT companies, and educational institutions. Its business model is based on subscriptions for both educational organizations and individual users. The company's platforms are utilized in over 7,000 schools in Kazakhstan.
The company's product suite includes several online platforms: iMektep.kz for primary school, iTest.kz for high school national test preparation, and BilimLand, a multilingual platform with interactive lessons for the entire school curriculum in Kazakh, Russian, and English. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, BMG launched OnlineMektep, a distance learning platform covering all subjects for grades 1-11, and provided free access to Bilimland.kz. Other notable projects include Twig-Bilim, which localizes educational films from sources like the BBC; Kitap.kz, a digital library of Kazakh literature; and BilimKids for preschool education. BMG also opened a representative office in Uzbekistan.
