Bib Batteries

Founded in 2021 by Pierre-Amans Lapeyre and Martin Vaz, Bib Batteries is a technology startup focused on the sustainable management of electric vehicle batteries. Lapeyre, the CEO, has a background in strategy from HEC Paris and worked at Renault, where he was introduced to the concept of second-life for batteries. Vaz, the CTO, is an engineer from École Polytechnique with a master's in Energy and an MSc in the Deep-tech track from X-HEC Entrepreneurs. The company was born from their shared entrepreneurial ambition to address the environmental and economic challenges of battery lifecycle management.

The company has developed an advanced software platform that monitors the state of health of batteries in real-time without requiring additional hardware. This data-driven solution uses an AI-powered decision tree to provide fleet managers with actionable insights, determining the most economical and ecological path for each battery at the end of its first life: repair, reuse in a second-life application, or recycling. The platform provides transparency on a battery's condition, forecasts failures, and optimizes its value throughout its entire lifecycle.

Bib Batteries serves operators of electric vehicle fleets, including cars, scooters, bikes, and mopeds, with clients such as La Poste, Cityscoot, Vélib, and Dott. The business model is primarily subscription-based, charging a monthly fee per battery monitored. Additional revenue is generated by connecting customers with a European network of certified partners for repair, repurposing, and recycling, and the company manages the associated logistics and paperwork. By extending battery life and facilitating a circular economy, Bib aims to reduce maintenance costs for fleet operators and minimize the environmental impact of batteries.

The company has gained significant traction, securing a €2.2 million funding round in September 2024, led by Family Ventures and supported by investors like NextGear Ventures, SuperCapital, and Techstars Paris. Bib Batteries was also named in Challenges' top 100 startups to invest in and received the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label in 2023.
