Bavard AI, founded in July 2020 by CEO Angelique Brown and CTO Angelos Barmpoutis, developed an enterprise-grade conversational AI platform. Brown's focus as CEO was on leveraging the conversational platform to help organizations deliver better user experiences at scale. Barmpoutis, a Professor at the University of Florida with a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, brought extensive expertise in machine vision, AI, and biomedical image processing to the company.
The company's core business was providing AI-powered chatbots designed to automate customer conversations for support, engagement, and sales conversion. Bavard's platform was built to integrate with a client's existing systems to offer personalized, 24/7 customer interactions using advanced natural language processing. This allowed the chatbots to handle queries about order status, pricing, and FAQs, and to communicate in multiple languages. A key feature was the ability for human agents to intercept automated conversations and engage in live chat when a more personal touch or complex issue resolution was required.
The platform also included a Dialogue Service that utilized contextual AI, allowing the chatbot to learn from conversation examples to better handle ambiguous situations and provide more personalized responses based on interaction history. Furthermore, clients had access to an analytics dashboard that provided user data and insights to continuously train and improve the chatbot's performance. In February 2022, Bavard was acquired by LifeOmic, a software company specializing in precision health and wellness solutions. The acquisition was aimed at enhancing LifeOmic's customer support by integrating Bavard's AI chatbot into its website and mobile applications, enabling users to get instant, AI-driven assistance.
