In 1979, the company that would become BHI Energy started as Bartlett Nuclear. It was founded to provide radiological protection services, initially to the U.S. Navy and then to the broader nuclear power industry. Over the years, the company expanded its expertise, adding services for fossil fuels, renewable energy, and electricity transmission and distribution. The company’s journey involved significant growth through acquisitions and private equity partnerships. In 2017, AE Industrial Partners acquired BHI, seeing its potential as a premier service provider in the power generation sector. Under AEI's ownership, BHI grew by acquiring several other companies, broadening its capabilities in engineering and transmission and distribution services. A pivotal chapter in the company's story came in May 2022, when Westinghouse Electric Company completed its acquisition of BHI Energy. This transaction was notable because it created the nuclear industry's first fully integrated business for outage, maintenance, and modification services. The deal combined BHI's extensive field service capabilities with Westinghouse's nuclear technology expertise, aiming to provide comprehensive solutions to power generation clients.
