Bankers Holding

The story of Bankers Holding doesn't start with a disruptive tech idea, but with the acquisition of a legacy business. Its subsidiary, Bankers, originates from Taihei Bussan Co., Ltd., a lending company with a history stretching back nearly 50 years. In 2019, this experienced lender was acquired by Bankers Holding, led by CEO Takeshi Shibuya, a professional with a background at Daiwa Securities and Rakuten. This marked a second founding for the business, combining deep lending experience with a new vision for financial technology. The new strategy was clear: to build a comprehensive financial platform. In December 2020, the company launched "Bankers," a lending-based crowdfunding service, also known as social lending. This platform allows individual investors to fund loans to companies, opening up a class of financial products previously aimed at institutional investors. It connects investors' capital with business financing needs through an online platform, offering a modern alternative to traditional direct finance. A significant turning point came in April 2021, when Bankers Holding announced a major funding round of 1 billion yen from various business companies and venture capital funds to accelerate its growth. This was followed by another Series B funding round in October 2022, securing an additional 1.5 billion yen to expand operations and explore overseas opportunities. The company is currently unlisted. Through strategic funding and the acquisition of an established business, Bankers Holding has engineered a new-era financial platform on a decades-old foundation.
