Award Pool offers a versatile white-label platform designed to enhance audience engagement for brands, creators, and collectors. This is achieved by enabling clients to create customized challenges and competitions where end-users can earn points and rewards, including Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The company operates on a B2B model, providing tools for businesses to build, engage, reward, and monetize their communities, particularly targeting the digital generation.
The venture originated in February 2020 as a family project led by serial entrepreneur Reuven Cohen, who serves as CEO and co-founder. Cohen, with a background that includes early work in infrastructure as a service and for entities like the Amazon cloud, initially conceived the platform as an all-encompassing tool for the esports industry. The initial hypothesis was to create a comprehensive management environment for esports teams, leagues, and tournaments. However, the team soon identified a more significant opportunity in broader audience engagement, adjusting the product's focus. The platform's development involved Cohen's entire family, who contributed significantly to the business plan, marketing, and even technical aspects like coding and design.
The platform empowers clients to manage esports competitions, from ticket sales and buy-ins to prize distribution. A key feature is the integration of NFTs, allowing brands to offer unique digital collectibles as rewards. Award Pool facilitates this through Celo integration, enabling the creation and management of Celo-based NFTs with a focus on sustainability. The company also developed a tool called cardFi, which allows any NFT to function like a gift card by assigning cryptocurrency value to it. Since its inception, Award Pool has secured approximately $2.3 million in seed funding over two rounds from investors such as Flori Ventures, BlocTech Investment Group, FunFair, and Equivesto.
