Aviation Safety Resources (ASR), now operating as ASR-Pioneer, engineers, tests, and manufactures whole-airframe emergency parachute recovery systems. The company's core business revolves around creating systems designed to safely land an entire aircraft and its occupants in the event of an in-flight emergency. It serves clients across the aviation spectrum, including the emerging Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market, which includes vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) vehicles, as well as traditional aircraft, defense, and space exploration programs. Revenue is generated through the design, production, and sale of these safety systems and their related components.

The company has grown significantly through a series of strategic acquisitions. In 2021, ASR expanded its capabilities by purchasing Strong Enterprises, a company with a 60-year history in military and recreational parachute technology. A major milestone occurred in April 2022, when ASR acquired Pioneer Aerospace, a company founded in 1938 and known for developing the first nylon parachute and contributing to numerous NASA missions. This acquisition led to the combined entity being named ASR-Pioneer, significantly expanding its manufacturing footprint and engineering depth. Dario Manfredi serves as the chairman of the Board of Directors. However, in November 2023, ASR-Pioneer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to pursue a sale of the company. Subsequently, in April 2024, Paradigm Parachute & Defense Inc. acquired a majority of ASR-Pioneer's assets, including those of Strong Enterprises and Airlift Technologies International.

ASR-Pioneer offers a range of products centered on aerodynamic deceleration. Its flagship offerings include whole-aircraft recovery systems, such as the Soteria line, which can be tailored for specific aircraft like the Sky-6. A key product is the eXtreme Rapid Deployment (XRD) system, which is specifically designed for the AAM and VTOL market. This system is engineered to handle vehicles with no forward speed, a critical safety requirement for eVTOLs operating in urban environments. The company also produces a variety of other parachute systems for personnel, cargo, tactical missions, and space applications, leveraging the legacies of Pioneer Aerospace and Strong Enterprises.
