Avagmah's business model centered on being a full-stack Online Program Manager (OPM), enabling universities to outsource the entire lifecycle of their online courses. This included digital marketing, student admissions, administrative processes, and the technological platform for course delivery. The company's proprietary Avagmah Technology Platform (ATP) was a key feature, offering a collaborative, application-based, and web-based solution for both universities and students. For students, who were primarily working professionals, the platform provided access to live virtual classroom sessions, downloadable video content, and a personalized study plan to balance education with their careers. A significant portion of its student base, 45-51%, came from Tier II and III cities, highlighting the platform's role in expanding access to education.

The company generated revenue by partnering with premier institutions and offering their degree and certification programs online to a broad audience. Its clientele included both universities, such as Pondicherry University, Bharathidasan University, and UCLA Extension, and corporate clients like Convergys, IBM, Pfizer, and TCS, who sponsored employee education. In June 2020, Avagmah was acquired by GetMyUni, a Times Internet-backed edtech startup, in an all-cash deal, marking its exit from the market.
