Aria Networks, founded in the UK in 2005 by Tony Fallows, developed artificial intelligence software to address network capacity management for the telecommunications industry. The company's focus was on providing solutions for network planning and optimization, enabling service providers to automate processes that traditionally took months, potentially reducing or deferring capital expenditures. Aria Networks' software was designed to augment a telecom operator's existing operational support systems by providing scalable and efficient analysis of network and service data. The technology aimed to help operators manage networks more efficiently with fewer resources while deploying more services, with specific applications in the fields of Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
The company's offerings were targeted at telecom, cloud, and over-the-top social network service providers. Its AI-based tools utilized predictive analytics to help service providers manage growth, identify capacity utilization across network and storage assets, and model demand. This allowed telecommunication providers to better understand service delivery costs and manage real-time capacity. In January 2015, Steve Newton, with over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications sector, was appointed CEO, succeeding Tony Fallows. Over its lifetime, Aria Networks raised a total of $9.05 million in funding over three rounds, with investors including Seraphim Capital. The company eventually ceased operations, with a bankruptcy liquidation notice dated July 2, 2024.
