ArchSlate operates as a specialized, AI-driven talent marketplace tailored for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. The company was founded in 2019 by Vaishnavi More, with Harshneel More later joining as CTO. The inspiration for ArchSlate stemmed from Vaishnavi More's direct experiences as a Harvard Graduate School of Design alumna, where she observed significant disconnects and inefficiencies in the hiring process for architects, both as a job seeker and from the perspective of firms trying to hire talent. After facing challenges in her own job search despite her credentials, she developed the concept at the Harvard Innovation Labs, where it was accepted into the venture incubation program.
The platform serves both job candidates and employers within the AEC space, including architects, designers, planners, and creatives. For job seekers, ArchSlate provides a platform to create detailed profiles and visually rich portfolios by dragging and dropping project files, which helps them stand out to potential employers. For AEC firms, the platform streamlines the recruitment process, reducing the time-to-hire from an industry average of 52 days to a matter of hours. Its AI-based algorithm matches company needs with the specific skills and experience of candidates, moving away from traditional resume scans and recruiters. The company's business model involves multiple revenue streams. Employers are charged a subscription fee or a price-per-posting to list jobs and access the talent pool. For job seekers, the platform operates on a freemium model, with basic profiles being free and premium features available for a monthly fee. Additionally, Archslate generates revenue through e-learning services, offering tutorials and certifications for industry-standard software like AutoCAD and Revit, and by facilitating a marketplace for freelancers and gig-based projects.
Initially based in Silicon Valley, ArchSlate relocated its headquarters to Tampa, Florida, in 2021, establishing an office at the Embarc Collective startup hub. A significant milestone was achieved in March 2022, when the company raised $700,000 in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round co-led by Tampa Bay Ventures and SeedFunders, with participation from New York Angels. This capital was earmarked for enhancing its e-learning offerings, launching the freelancers marketplace, and expanding its team. The company has stated its focus is on serving the U.S. market, with ambitions to become a global leader in the AEC talent space, particularly aiming to support underrepresented professionals. However, a report from January 2025 indicated that Archslate is no longer operational.
