Aquvio, established in 2015 by founders Naveen Kumar and Rohit Kumar Mittal, develops and manufactures water purification and conservation technology. The company's core product is a water purifier that utilizes reverse osmosis (RO), ultraviolet (UV), and ultrafiltration (UF) technologies to remove contaminants while minimizing water wastage. Aquvio's patented system achieves a water recovery rate of over 70%, a significant improvement compared to conventional RO purifiers that can waste up to 3 litres for every 1 litre purified.
The company was founded by alumni of IIT (BHU), Varanasi, and is incubated at the Malaviya Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (MCIIE) at the institute. Aquvio serves both domestic and commercial clients, offering a range of products from compact household units to commercial plants with capacities from 25 to 2,000 liters per hour (LPH). Its business model involves the direct sale of these purifiers, which are designed to be cost and energy-efficient, and also provides installation and maintenance services. The technology not only purifies water but also enriches it with minerals using TDS controllers and alkaline enhancement.
Aquvio has received funding from entities including the Technology Development Board (a part of the Government of India), Villgro's INVENT, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The company's client base includes educational institutions, private and government offices, factories, hospitals, and the Indian military. While initially focused on Varanasi, the company has expanded its presence to Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.
