In 2020, entrepreneur Andrew Gazdecki identified a clear inefficiency in the startup world. Having built and sold companies like Bizness Apps himself, he saw a gap in the market for an efficient and accessible marketplace for smaller businesses to get acquired. This insight led to the creation of MicroAcquire, a platform designed to directly connect startup founders with potential buyers, removing the traditional barriers and high costs of intermediaries. The initial concept was straightforward: create a space where founders could anonymously list their startups and engage in conversations with vetted buyers. Gazdecki bootstrapped the company initially, allowing him to shape the platform's early development. The company quickly gained traction, and in 2021, it acquired Exitround and secured over $6 million in seed funding from investors including Bessemer Venture Partners. This influx of capital fueled further development and expansion. A pivotal moment came in October 2022 when the company rebranded. After purchasing the domain for just over $240,000, MicroAcquire became Acquire.com, signaling its ambition to serve a broader market beyond just "micro" acquisitions. Today, Acquire.com operates as a major marketplace for buying and selling online businesses, aiming to simplify the entire acquisition process from initial listing to closing the deal.
