AppMagics, legally registered as Maijike Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., is a technology firm focused on the application of artificial intelligence in computer vision and mixed reality. The company was established in 2014 by Fu Yingna and Jin Yulin, with Fu Yingna serving as the CEO. Fu is a serial entrepreneur with a significant background in mobile technology; she previously founded MoGenesis, a mobile software development company that was acquired by Symbian (Nokia) in 2007. Following the acquisition, she held senior roles at Nokia and later at Microsoft, where she was involved in strategic planning and developer ecosystem development for Windows Phone in the Asia-Pacific region before founding AppMagics.
The firm specializes in technologies that blend virtual elements with reality through interactive control and simulation. A core application of their technology allows users to control the facial expressions of virtual characters in real-time using their own expressions. AppMagics provides its technology solutions to a range of clients, including social and live-streaming platforms, smart device manufacturers, and companies in the film, television, and gaming industries. One of its notable products is the FaceMagic app, a mobile application that allows users to edit photos and videos with various themes and stickers.
The company has successfully secured funding across several rounds. After an A+ round in June 2017 led by Huagai Capital, it received a further multi-million RMB investment in a Series B round from Shengjing in March 2018. In total, AppMagics has raised $14.4 million over five funding rounds, with other investors including Bojiang Capital and PurpleSky Capital.
