The Antonio Carraro story begins in 1910 when Giovanni Carraro, a young blacksmith, built his first multipurpose agricultural machine in a small workshop. This endeavor grew into a significant industrial plant. A pivotal moment came in 1960 when Antonio Carraro, Giovanni's youngest son, founded Antonio Carraro S.p.A., deciding to specialize in compact, four-wheel-drive tractors for niche agricultural markets. This focus on specialized tractors for vineyards and orchards proved to be a successful strategy. A significant shift in the company's structure occurred more recently. In 2023, it was announced that the Maschio/Polo Group, which already held a 50% stake, would acquire the remaining shares of Antonio Carraro S.p.A. This move was part of a long-term investment program to fuel corporate growth, expand production, and enter new markets. Prior to this full acquisition, the partial investment by the Maschio/Polo Group was seen as a strategic partnership to strengthen the company's international presence and prepare for a potential future stock market flotation. Marcello Carraro, a member of the founding family, remained involved in an institutional role after the acquisition.
