Antlos initiated its journey in 2014 as a peer-to-peer online marketplace focused on connecting boat owners and skippers with travelers seeking sailing holidays. The company was founded in Venice, Italy, by childhood friends Michelangelo Ravagnan and Marco Signori, along with Nicola Peduzzi. Ravagnan, a former yacht captain, took on the role of CEO, while Signori, also a former sailing skipper, served as CPO, and Peduzzi as CTO. This founding team's direct experience in the maritime and tourism sectors provided a practical foundation for the business.
The venture was cultivated within the H-FARM business accelerator, graduating in January 2015 after a four-month program. Antlos secured approximately $555K in funding over three rounds from investors including H-FARM, Club Italia Investmenti 2, Incos Invest, and IMPACT Accelerator. The platform's business model was frequently likened to an "Airbnb of the sea," enabling skippers to list their vessels for customized trips, ranging from single-day excursions to all-inclusive, multi-day voyages, primarily in the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas. This model allowed boat owners to monetize their assets while providing travelers with a curated and authentic maritime experience.
A significant milestone occurred in May 2018 when Antlos was acquired by Sailogy, a larger entity in the yacht charter industry. This acquisition integrated Antlos into the Sailogy Group, expanding the combined service offering to address a growing market. Post-acquisition, Antlos has specialized as a provider of daily yacht charters, offered with or without a skipper, directly from charter companies and private boat owners. The platform maintains real-time connectivity with numerous boat operators, focusing on a seamless booking process for boat-based experiences, particularly in the Mediterranean Sea.
