Ananas E-commerce is an online marketplace and part of the Delta Holding corporation, positioned as a major e-commerce player in the Balkan region. Founded in 2020 and officially launched in February 2022, the company was established by Delta Holding with a planned investment of 100 million euros over five years to develop a regional e-commerce giant. The platform aims to provide a comprehensive online shopping experience, aspiring to become the "Amazon of the Balkans".
The business operates as a marketplace connecting a wide range of sellers with customers, offering products across more than 30 categories, including electronics, fashion, and home goods. Ananas has built a complete business ecosystem that includes not only the online platform but also its own logistics, retail operations, AdTech, and FinTech services. A key component of its strategy is a sophisticated logistics and fulfillment network. The company opened a 10,000-square-meter e-fulfillment center near Belgrade, which features advanced automation to increase productivity and reduce order preparation times, capable of handling up to 65,000 shipments daily. This allows for fast and flexible delivery options, including next-day delivery for items marked 'Ananas Direct', home delivery, and pickup from a network of parcel lockers ("Paketomat") and pick-up/drop-off ("Paket Zone") locations.
The company's business model is based on providing a platform for over 1,100 retailers, with a portion of them utilizing the company's e-fulfillment services. Revenue is generated from its marketplace activities and the suite of services offered to its merchant partners. Ananas has pursued an aggressive regional expansion strategy. After launching in Serbia, it entered the North Macedonian market in 2022 by acquiring online shopping brands Grouper.mk and Paopao.mk. In 2024, it further expanded its operations into Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, steadily increasing its footprint across the Balkans.
