AM Green is an Indian energy transition solutions provider co-founded by Anil Chalamalasetty and Mahesh Kolli, the founders of Greenko Group. The company focuses on developing production capabilities for green molecules, including green hydrogen, green ammonia, biofuels, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and e-methanol, to support global industrial decarbonization. AM Green leverages its founders' experience with Greenko, a major renewable energy and decarbonization company, to build a scalable green energy platform.
The company's business model centers on producing and supplying these green molecules to hard-to-abate industries such as shipping, power generation, chemicals, and fertilizers. AM Green is developing several large-scale projects, including a significant green ammonia facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, which aims to produce one million tonnes per year. This plant, expected to be operational in the second half of 2026, has already secured offtake agreements with companies like Uniper, Yara, Keppel, and RWE, with most of its output intended for European markets. The Kakinada facility has received pre-certification for compliance with EU standards for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO). By 2030, AM Green aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 5 million tonnes of green ammonia.
To power its facilities, AM Green has secured 1,300 MW of round-the-clock carbon-free energy through a mix of solar, wind, and pumped storage solutions. The company has formed strategic partnerships to build out its ecosystem. This includes a joint venture with John Cockerill to manufacture electrolyzers in India, a key component for green hydrogen production. AM Green has also partnered with Envision Energy to manufacture wind turbines and jointly develop green hydrogen projects and net-zero industrial parks. Furthermore, the company collaborates with the Port of Rotterdam to establish a green energy supply chain between India and Europe.
